We discussed the notions of ‘Alienating’ and ‘Naturalising’ in translation with the help of the student presentation on Friedrich Schleiermacher's “On the Different Methods of Translating" delivered by Bruna Gama and Matilde Gonçalves.
The presentation was followed by another student presentation on Walter Benjamin's “The Task of the Translator” given by Ana Beatriz Ferreira and Jéssica Rosa.

Foreignization versus Domestication

Sts had a mock test to prepare for the test on the 23rd of November.
Sts watched the video on domestication and foreignization, created by Peter Constantine and Brian Sneeden from the University of Connecticut.
Sts were then asked to work in pairs and answer the questions of the Google Form quiz:
