28 Fevereiro 2024, 17:00 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today, TP2 watched The Young Pope (S1E1).  Anyone who missed today's class is free to look for this episode online and watch it.  Warning: it is marvellously surreal and becomes increasingly so as the series goes on (especially season two entitled The New Pope).

Next class: we will be reading two reviews for this show, one positive and negative, from The Guardian and Vanity Fair respectively.

How to Write a Review - Part 2

21 Fevereiro 2024, 17:00 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today, we read the final product, identifying the persuasive writing techniques and learning about how to create literary fluency  between paragraphs and ideas.  My review (Berlinde de Bruyckere’s Crossing a bridge on fire has no heat) can be found in the shared Google drive in the file named 'Review'.

Optional homework: anyone who wishes to hand in 1-3 review(s) should do so by March 11th.  All reviews handed in by the 11th of March will certainly be marked and returned.  Any review handed in after that day may or may not be marked before the test.

Next class: we will be watching 'Revelations' (and hopefully 'Lazarus') performed by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company and, time allowing, we will be reading a review.
