Elicitation of the most common metaphors used in talking
about disease and healthcare. Brainstorming in pairs to collate vocabulary of
the domains of “war” and “battle”.
Viewing of “Cell Wars”, an animated film explaining how the
immune system reacts when flu enters the body, followed by an examination of
the war vocabulary used in the film.
Presentation on patient reactions to war metaphor in talking
about cancer, and on war metaphor used in an Observer editorial on covid.
4th hour/tutorial work: Grammar practice
Homework: Prepare for evaluation.

Next class: In-class Debate Preparation - students will be getting into their groups to prepare as a team for their upcoming debates. Students should endeavour to come to the next two classes as this is the only time they will have to work with their teammates for the debate.
