We did a general review of all verb tenses, including continuous and perfect aspect. Students then did a few exercises to practice.
SS8 - In this Sort of World the Asshole Wins

We discussed the short story "In This Sort of World the Asshole Wins", focusing on some of the main themes presented such as trauma, abuse, mental health, addiction, coping styles and the main character's overall powerlessness. We then started reading the continuation of this story: "How Far Can you Get on an Empty Tank of Gas". Students were asked to finish reading this story for homework.
Vocabulary review

We looked at some idioms from Shakespeare (noun phrases, verb phrases and expressions). We then reviewed some binomials (noun phrases, adjectival phrases and phrases with repetitions) and finally reviewed some common acronyms and initialisms (with a focus on those used in social media).
