Grammar and vocabulary review

We looked at special uses of tenses, including present and past tenses. These included: present simple for events in a novel, historic present, the use of the present for anecdotes and jokes, the present subjunctive, the past simple with a future meaning, expressing desire or making a polite request, past forms used with present meaning for politeness. We also looked at the reported speech. We also reviewed prepositions and sentence patterns which included prepositions after adjectives and verbs, prepositional phrases and sentence patterns with nouns. Regarding vocabulary, we looked at numbers and measurements as well as idioms with measurements. We then looked at verbs, phrasal verbs and idioms related to food and drink.
