Warm-up: some common errors

Small group work: sequencing a set of covers of children’s books across history to the present day, then matching them to specific dates on a timeline.

Presentation on the history of children’s books, with a special focus on the importance of Aesop’s Fables, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and the revolution of the Gutenberg press. How children’s books have come full circle from teaching manners and good behaviour to teaching how to behave in the time of Covid-19.

HOMEWORK: Reading ahead: The House at Pooh Corner and A Bear Called Paddington
