Students were asked to do a document profile of the ST by discussing the following: subject, text category, function, typical target audience, distinguishing features, how the text will be used, and potential problems. We then reviewed the first part of the translation and discussed how to maintain the language and style so that it was both informative and entertaining.

We worked on the first page of a "Tenancy at will" and focused on maintaining a rather formal register given the type of text it was. This was compared to a register shift that could appear in a more informal type of contract.
