Discussion of essay writing techniques and asked students to research the topic "Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of foreign aid to poor countries" to write an essay on this topic in the next class.


We watched the 2nd speakers on the Proposition and Opposition sides of "Islam is a Peaceful Religion" Oxford Union debate (available on Youtube) to illustrate the differences between the type of speech deivered by the 1st and 2nd speaker (see manual for specific instructions). Discussed the good and bad points of content and structure of each speech.
