Watching the following Guardian Brexit shorts:

'The End' by Abi Morgan; 'Burn' by James Graham; 'Your Ma's a hard Brexit' by Stacey Cregg; and 'Shattered' by Maxine Peaks.

Discussing vocabulary and cultural references in 'The End' and 'Burn'.

The other two shorts shall be discussed next Monday in class.

The structure and verb tenses of narrative texts

Demonstrated the structure of narrative texts (setting of scene, introduction of conflict, resolution of conflict).

Then gave verb tenses gap fill exercises with narrative texts, so that they could see the structure in action and then also understand how past continuous, past perfect and simple past tenses are used in narrative texts to introduce movement into them and to show how this is different from essay writing.

Reviewed students' corrections of their essays.

Traveling and ageing

Students reflected on the intertextuality between the feature "Older than Ireland" and Paley's Traveling as well as "My Father Addresses...."We also watched Foil Arms and Fog's sketch Millenials in the Future:
