Today, the teacher modelled to students how to brainstorm arguments to support a thesis statement and how to order them according to their strengths as previously taught with the Wonder Woman text.
Students were then given in-class time to begin working on their thesis statements and on their arguments and research.
All thesis statements must be approved by the teacher. Some thesis statement tutorials were given in class - all others will be done during tutorials outside of class time.
Today's lesson was finished with the teacher orally presenting her academic paper on Joyce Carol Oates' short story
Small Avalanches. The oral was recorded, so anyone who missed class will receive the recording to understand how the oral presentation should be done. All students will also be emailed a copy of the teacher's PowerPoint for the oral so that students can see how it can be done (but they should, by all means, prepare their PowerPoints/Prezis how they wish).
