Note: Monday the 14th's class will be taught by visiting lecturer Paula Camacho, Associate Professor, Philology and Translation Department,
Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Seville, Spain,
who will look at the life and work of Iris Barry, the first woman film critic in England. Different aspects such as her pioneering film reviews for the journal The Spectator, her defense of film as art and her struggle as a woman will be analyzed within the context of British society in the first decades of the 20th century. She will also analyse Barry's review of Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927), which was published in the Spectator. ~
