TP1 finished analyzing descriptive texts and went on to get into groups in order to prepare for their class presentations.

Each group was instructed to choose one of the seven available descriptive texts (these are in your course books):

  • Two texts from Virginia Woolfe's journals;
  • Three texts from Sylvia Plath's journals;
  • Two poems by Anne Michaels.

Once each group had chosen ONE text to analyze, they were instructed to:

  1. detect the mood/tone of the piece;
  2. interpret the hidden message of the piece;
  3. identify the means by which the message is conveyed:
    1. the five senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch);
    2. other means as seen in class when analyzing previous texts;
    3. etc.

Each group will be sharing their findings with the whole class.

Next class:  the class will have 15-20 more minutes to prepare and then it will be time for each group to presente.
