Today we re-watched the youtube clip of Winston Churchill's We Shall Fight on the Beaches and students carried on analyzing the text and identifying persuasive writing techniques within it.
We then watched the vídeo clip of Barack Obama's 2012 Acceptance Speech. TP1 was put into four groups and asked to identify the persuasive writing techniques in their allocated section of his speech, and to list the different types of American voters targeted in their section.

Unit 2 - The Rainbow Nation: (a) making up a storyline inspired by the painting "The activist" by George Pemba; (b) reading and discussing "Police", an excerpt from the novel Jo' burg by Beverly Naidoo; pass laws under Apartheid in South Africa.

Students got into their groups to continue with the analysis of their text.
The first two groups completed their analysis. The third group began but will finish the first class after the midterms.
