Today, students listed all of the different persuasive writing techniques they identified in the Depp vs. Heard closing arguments (Vasquez and Rottenborn only).  


We then went on to discuss the basics of editorial writing and read/analyzed Text 1 from the course book, Gaby Hinsliff's It’s ‘something for nothing Britain’ shrieks the Mail. Talk about blaming the victim.

Students who missed today's class should read this editorial as soon as possible for homework.

Next class: we will be reading Text 2 from the course book.

Stutterer - short film

Viewing and discussion of the oscar winning short film Stutterer. We spoke about some of the main themes such as the various layers of communication presented, disabilities (how people deal with and react to), isolation, online relationships, and some of the cinematographic tools used to have the audience relate with the main character.
