Revision - Persuasive Writing Techniques

25 Janeiro 2023, 18:30 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today, we went through the Persuasive Writing Techniques PowerPoint.

Students who missed today's class should access the PowerPoint on the shared Google drive and learn about/review the 20 persuasive writing techniques that we will be identifying when analyzing editorials from the course book.  Students will also be expected to use persuasive writing techniques in their own editorials.

Homework: students should watch the YouTube videos of the closing speeches from the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard Trial (watch Ms. Vasquez for Team Johnny and Mr. Rottenborn for Ms. Heard) and identify the persuasive techniques in each speech.

Please note: Camille Vaszquez starts at 34.41 and Rottenborn starts at 2:22.42)

Next class: Students will be feeding back the persuasive techniques they identified in the Depp/Heard speeches.  Then, we will be reading and analyzing an editorial from the course book.  Students must bring their course books to class!  (Or their laptops/tablets.)
