Imaginary Homelands

Dear Students

Having certainly reflected on the concepts of dealing with broken mirrors or cultural displacement et al. in Rushdie's Imaginary Homelands, I would like you to go back to the text and find the theses the author presents there. These are on topics of belonging, home, travel, imagination and memory.

The assignment should be between 300 and 600 words (+-) and the deadline is Monday, 30th 11pm. You should send your work to the cover email account.

On Tuesday we will be meeting at 12:00 on the Zoom platform (I have already registered myself with the cover email) and discussing the ideas from you work.

Skype class - Reading and analysis of academic essay

Reading and discussion of the first half of Brigitt Flohr's essay "Representations of the Self and the Other in Eighteenth Century Travel Writing". This essay is in the course manual and work on this will continue in the next class.

This class will take place on Zoom instead of Skype.
