No início da aula um dos estudantes realizou uma apresentação que se debruçou sobre o panorama linguístico de uma região seleccionada (no caso, o Alentejo). Um dos objectivos da apresentação foi o de alertar os alunos para a existência de várias hierarquias linguísticas nas línguas de chegada, que se alteram conforme as regiões e os contextos. Na segunda parte da aula procedeu-se à discussão das traduções elaboradas na aula anterior e revistas em casa pelos alunos. A discussão centrou-se em questões relacionadas com a revisão (objectivos, etapas e estratégias da revisão, bem como perfil do revisor).

A aula consistiu (a) na análise pormenorizada (primeiro em pares e depois com toda a turma) dos três textos de chegada resultantes dos três processos de tradução discutidos na aula anterior e (b) na tradução de um folhetim distribuído em aeroportos (estas traduções serão revistas pelos colegas em casa e discutidas na próxima aula).

Analysis of texts from the anthology dealing with the style and vocabulary used by the printed media. Explanation of how
expressions such as "Gop Veep Pick Roils Dems" or "cops nab villains" are a sort
of micro-language that is understood but hardly used by today's native
users of the English language, making it a sort of code that is
difficult to enter for foreign users of English.
Given that this is the case, how should we translate such items?
